Disturbing on so many levels

How many kids have been given the key to the kingdom and then crashed it royally? Without a doubt the most spectacular crash was observed when GWB bottomed out the World Economy in 2008. But don't worry it appears he is trying hard to make up for it. Really who cant wait for the apocalypse anyway?

Least we Forget

My Grandfather enlisted at age 17 to fight the Hun for King and Country. Ypres, Passchendaele, Vimy Ridge and too many other bloody muddy field to mention he fought in them all. He lost a lung to mustard gas, but still soldiered on right until the end. I knew him for over 30 years and if you asked him about the war he would smile and tell one of two stories. Either drinking and celebrating Christmas one year with the Germans in an informal grass roots truce, or the time he was walking across an open field, some would have said and then the red baron came down on him on a strafing run, but Grampa told us, the pilot pulled up at the last moment, waved to him and flew away.

Thank you Grandpa and all your mates down the years and across the centuries that fought and died so we could live the good life we enjoy now.
We will never forget your sacrifice.

Nissan Revolutionary Car Design

Something for nothing, form follows function. It looks like Nissan has hit a cliche design jackpot. If your next car is electric, it would be better trapezoid shaped, Be sure to read the whole story at Gizmag.

Thats Fasinating

I found a great new (to me) blog. I hate curtains  blinds and window coverings in general. Consumer ready home windows with adjustable opacity are on the verge of being mainstream. If you buy a 2012 and newer Mercedes SLK the retractable roof can also go from clear to dark according to the drivers preference at the moment. Now an Austrian designer has invented a device that turns windows into sound filters.

Crackman: A new kind of hero for a new kind of society

Look up in the sky, its a bird, its a plane , no its something higher than that!
" Crackman saves a dozen normal size crackheads by blocking the shooter"

If Rob Ford is not going to stand down, he better gear up. Crackhouses are notorious for stabbings and shootings. We cannot have the Mayor of Toronto taking unnecessary risks. I think his chances of re election would soar if the public knew he was taking some precautions, and was not just another reckless crackhead. He needs a new suit.

Would Rob Ford in a bulletproof suit not be a super hero, Crackman. The Mayor of Toronto summons him by drinking a 26er of Vodka. Of course the Vodka becomes very popular with Crackmans endorsement, and Crackman uses the money to build subways. What a fiscally responsible hero!

Imagine the headlines:

"Crackman, if your a bad guy without crack, you dont want to see him in a drunken stuper"

" Crackman saves a dozen normal size crackheads by blocking the shooter"

" Crackman takes down a pursesnatcher by throwing his crack pipe on the sidewalk, the glass shards cut through the villains flip flops"

3) Like a Rolling Crack Rock
4) Transit Plan number 61 revisited
5)Vodka in Escalade
6) Sandra, Bill Blair and the diamond Crack Pipe
7)All along the crack houses
8)Most likely you will vote for me, and I will get high
9) Drug dealer from Etobickoe

The Case for physical media

Like most I want to own my media. From on of the few pop culture blogs I read daily a pretty good read on why owning is better than renting. Unlike the author I do not get all warm and fuzzy about holding something in my hand. Yes LP Albums are a trip, but a jewel case not so much. Also the sound of an LP compared to copying it, editing it with Audacity , and playing it up-scaled to 24 bit leaves analog in the dust. I would prefer to have all my stuff on a backed up hard drive.

Bulletproof Biz Suit made in Canada

For the  paranoid and prepared the ultimate in business wear. The perfect icon for our era. The fabric has to be cut with a bandsaw. At $20,000 each I doubt they are going to outsell Hugo Boss. However bulletproof daily wear a flashing red sign of the times. Expect this fashion to become commonplace, oh the humanity.

H/T to Gizmag but I think I saw it in the Star as well.

"In relatively informal tests, Garrison's bullet-resistant suit proved capable of stopping 9 mm and .45 ACP (Automatic Colt Pistol) handgun rounds, in addition to the stabbing attacks by the Garrison employees. "
