GMO loses another battle
I have just added Stranger in a Strange Land to my blog list, if you want a world with options I suggest you do the same. I do not know if GMO are safe or dangerous. I know its a big change from the natural way. These kinds of scientific advancements in the past have been at the very least double sided.
"GMO agriculture is devastating Filipino farmers and they've made a video to share their stories. Monsanto gets them hooked and after a few years, they double their prices. Farmers are forced to take out loans to cover the cost of the seeds ...and chemicals. If the farmers can't pay their debts, their cattle and land are confiscated. Their farmland is depleted, their bank accounts are depleted and they can't eat what they grow because it makes them sick. With a lack of availability of conventional corn seed, what are these farmers to do?"

Thinking Aboot Music
That has to be my biggest bone to pick about the Taliban. A world without music is intellectual slavery so deep and broad that I would authorize a nuclear bomb to wipe out the forces that do not want us to hear. I saw a grateful dead sticker on a Cadillac. That is the power of music to unite us to give us some common ground upon which we can build some great foundations. Willie Nelson has forced most close minded conservatives to think aboot alternative lifestyles in a positive light.
My greatest sadness for living so long. Its to see modern music be so forlorn. I tell you now and believe me later JT in my day would be trying to reassemble himself after gong through a maserator. IMHO there are no super bands left. Retreaded Stones, Who or Supertramp are slush in the snow when your wearing summer tires. Today 2014 we have some good and a puffed up oversold hit machine of bad. Rap music, tehno and house are signs of surrender it the quest to occupy Beethoven house. Every thing you hear today was produced in a certian way.
We know what you want with your tims, and if it sounds familar, you are part of our family of really bad things.
Your mind is not your own. You may be like me very smart.
You may resist when they say you must be stupid
if you want to exist,
Yes there is more money spent keeping
intelligent people from ranting on the porch fence
than looking into things
that could keep our parents
from depends
and all the other horror
that exist
when people
have the same play
as those we looked at with love
and never ever knew
just what changing this diaper
would give us
when this lintel human
had no self control.

Ukraine a laboratory for globalization
I am back in the USSR
wondering if I should drive
an electric car
because the revolution
seems so septic
I need a green cabinet
and thats electric
Looking at all the people
in the square
dont they know that
greater forces on the run
are going to decimeter the flow
No freedom in the Ukraine
for anyone
The Saudis have bought in
to the neo nazi
and the Russians
are like magleve trains
in the train wreck to show.
People play Risk and civilization
and even grand theft auto
because its more thrilling
than the life that they know
right now the real players
are playing Ukranie
like poker and hope
their well considered lawyers up hand
does not blow.
But the people
who are trampled
the people who are bankrupt
the people who piss
and it does not show
are forgotten in this equation
this chance to fuck the Russians
because the west has
failed to bring them
under globalization control
GM sells capitalist short
(she is a flamming Pinto)
It seems like GM did not learn from the flaming Pinto or their own Corvair. If it is proven true that GM knew for five years the potential for death was real riding in one of their millions of cars it will be a testament to the reality of false expectations that come from self regulation. Under law GM must report any serious defect within five days of learning about it. Five years later we have a recall. We hear a daily drumbeat of how bad goverment is and how it should be run like a business. Really are you going to stick with that line. We hear daily about how regulations are strangling business and we need to cut the red tape. Really are you going to stick with that line.
GM may face criminal penalties. This would be ridiculous, is GM going to jail. Will GM get three strikes and your out? People made the decisions, these people should go to jail. Then things will change. As long as we allow corporations to be people, they are going to dominate us.

Not that it matters, might as well post, and put to music I will rule
Its one flighty eight pm and I am still on the ground;
now I did my time and i never thought
to live ,my life I would have to drop the dime\
I like to smoke up
in no way do
I see it as a button
on my self destruct
no i can hit that bitch
with no femme harm
without recrimation
if I take a glock
with fifteen shots
as an extension
of my missing arm
everyone has disappointments
losing a limb without a
sweetheart to cauterize the wound
would rate really high
in my expectation
that no matter what
gifts we give you
no matter how many
virgins we confuse
the public will
with great enthusiasm confuse
strengths with abstract
like Lou Reed
blowing a fuse/
Why does Music bring us joy?
Mathimatoscs is the common language we all share. There is no accent, no prejudice we must build into our equations, it all ones an zeros and adding up sums. Right now right here we could build a beautiful society based upon mathematics or a permanent life style based upon errors.
One plus one equals two. This is a fact you can agrue against in this dimension.
So let the facts bleed as they may, in this enviroment you will get good goverment.
So what is the plug on this most human desire of expounding the excellent.
It is all about trust and power. No leader who has lead his people to the promised land ever thinks some warm soft body can duplicate their achievement let alone move forward. Human humanity is stuck with high school superstars who never reached home base, but due to some kind of providence became the government face.
We need a leader who will say that what you seed wait two years to proceed you.
You can not change the world, its spinning just fine on its own. IF you want to build a legacy do something that will leave humanity high.

Canadian Justice Stands True
We live in a world with jurisprudence gone mad. Lawyers are the modern Samurai and the arena of combat is every aspect of your life. All parties engaged in a battle so brutal and all encompassing you cant escape it through death.
Its universally and totally mistakenly agreed that modern western justice is a creation of natural law. So the bias of fairness is built into the system. God did not appoint or select our judges, humans did. Justice is as good or bad as the humans that created it and the precedents that allow the institution to evolve as the final arbiter of good and evil.
Copyright law has become a watermark on the page of fair use. There are very few original thoughts. Therefore balancing the interests of creators who themselves copied against the common sense of the community is a challenge.
In the USA and the UK copyright holders have the Justice system in their pocket. From making the laws to enforcing them the balance is almost totally on the side of the content manufactures. The difference that is Canadian Justice, was highlighted this week in a landmark ruling. Allen Mendelsohn one of Canada's preeminent internet law experts explains it in easy to read detail with great clarity.
Why are Canadians being protected from Copyright trolls? In the USA the idea of social justice has never been part of the landscape. In the UK there is no Charter of Rights to protect the citizens from the special interests let alone the goverment.
So Canadians should be proud and thankful we have a society where the Judges in general believe in the rights of the people, and where we had a leader like Pierre Elliot Trudeau who enshrined a just society in a document that has the final say.
Now admit it, if you stream or download you are a liberal at heart.

Understand the value of the Olympics cost curve
I have a great idea, yes I do, not only one, enough to transform the planet and make every one happy. So why is the planet not healthy and why am I blue?
Is the Question my message or the ability to please. Now in fairness to the children I would not expect you to decode the fact that your basic programming was hacked. Almost every child loves its parent and when indoctrinated correctly will kill themselves before seeing those parents ripped asunder by the wild.
So believe me children and I am not the only one. You can love your parents but laugh at the folly they followed that made them worship some chosen one. In every religion in every family a vow of obedience in the entree to eternity. Come on now people we the majority now believe more. Silly superstitions you can leave them at the door. Sure they will persist like astrology which by the way ever religion that I know would reject as blasphemy.
We smart monkeys are staring at immortality, Do not be fooled its coming fast, so will I one day be a God to a human that was born after a thousand years of my past?
What will this child ask me given my experience. I expect what weed to grow on thier narrow garden fence. A fence out of blade runner and the fifth element. You do not have to be Arthur C Clarke to predict the future of living is best experienced right now in Hong Kong. You will not like it unless you are a senior member of a big hong, If you are really upset and want to smash your face upon the concete you could hire Jackie Chans monolith to keep you from harm/
There are some people who belive in slavery. They are the same people who did not belive as a five year old you could find a way
to play in a significant way
for the New York Rangers
on Broadway/

Nuclear backbone not supportable
The promise of Nuclear Energy has aged badly. The cost benefit just is not there compared to other alternatives. Still next to the dedicated fully funded Climate Change denier lobby, the Nuclear Lobby is well entrenched. Most of the time they say the following things. Copied directly from Nukepro.
''No immediate health effects''
''At safe levels to eat''
''Nuclear is safe"
"Nuclear is cheap"
''Dispersion in the ocean makes it harmless''
''Dilution is the solution''
''Too low to measure''
''Safer than eating a banana''
"Larger dose from flying on an airplane"
"Sleeping next to someone gives you a larger radioactive dose"
"Become I131 radiation rapidly depletes due to quick half life, we don't have to worry about any of the radiation."
''Nuclear power is cheap"
''Part of background''
''Definitely not caused by radiation''
''We can rule radiation out as the cause''
''No need to test''
''Harmless at current levels''
''It was a hydrogen explosion at Fukushima, impossible to have a nuclear explosion''
"Because you cannot prove that the disease was caused by a specific radiation, the information is not valid until proven by the scientific method."
"Nuclear is safe because they have backup power"
"Nuclear is safe because background radiation is high, so don't worry about a little more"
"The radiation from that release is in 'the noise' of the background radiation"
"It's green and clean"
"Nuclear is the only thing that can save the climate from excess carbon"
"Nuclear plants have pooled insurance"
"The nuclear plants were forced by the NRC to set aside enough money to fully decomission the plant when it is done with its life." ----------- Sellafield 70B
"The original 40 year number wasn't the 'design life' it was just an arbitrary number that meant nothing"
"When we are done with the plant, we will return the land in an untouched 'greenfield' condition"
"The NRC makes nuclear industry safe by regulating them"
"The IAEA regulates the worldwide nuclear industry"
"No deaths caused by nuclear radiation from civilian plants"
"Just keep smiling and radiation will not hurt you"
"Thorium reactors are completely safe"
"Defense in depth 'safety protocol' at nuke plants means that a major accident should only happen about every 2000 years."
"All the nuclear waste in the world could fit in a football field"
"The solution for nuclear waste is a single permanent repository"
"Nuclear power emits ZERO CO2"
"Reactors cannot blow up like nuclear bombs"
"No radiation from Japan will reach the USA"
"Price-Anderson is what brings nuclear regulation to any nuclear activity"
"Our meters are so good, and can measure radiation so small, that we refuse to present any actual data because it will just scare people"
"The fear of radiation is much more harmful than the radiation itself"
"We are from the government, we are here to help"
"A little bit of radiation is actually good for you, are you getting enough?"
"At no time was there any danger to the public"
"Just because a nuke worker was sent home 'unfit to work' doesn't actually mean anything important"
"Fukushima not as bad as Chernobyl"
"None of the radiation went into the ocean it was all contained in the 1.4 SQ KM 'zone'"
"Fukushima is in cold shutdown"
"Fukushima will absolutely not effect the 2020 Olympics"
"There are good people working in nuclear, therefore you shouldn't talk bad about their chosen profession"
"Don't worry about living within 20 miles of a reactor, just take your iodine pill when the authorities tell you to, and you will be fine."
"If you are Anti-Nuke, that means you are pro-coal"
"If you are Anti-Civilian Nuclear Reactors, then you are anti- nuke submarines and therfore, anti national security"
"There have only been a handful of nuclear accidents"
"What you are measuring is leftover from the cold war bomb testing"
"Cancer is normal and wide spread"
"You can drink 32g of Plutonium and you'll be fine"
"No one was killed by Fukushima"
"There was no plutonium released by Fukushima"
"No one could have predicted a tsunami so high"
Reactor 4 was a hydrogen explosion with hydrogen transferred from Reactor 3 ------

"Nuclear power is too cheap to meter"
"There will always be power and backup generators to prevent a meltdown."

"Entergy is NOT a slum lord"
"Anyone who is opposed to nuclear power is a 'fearmonger' "
"All those poor people in Japan are dying because they are homesick, they never should have been evacuated from Fukushima"
"Diabetes in Fukushima kids being caused by radiophobic parent forcing kids to play indoors leading to unhealthy lifestyle"
"Increased cancers in Japan cannot possibly be caused by Fukushima because cancer takes more time to grow."
"No one died from Fukushima" ---- FOIA docs says otherwise 5 Death Lethal Rads

Lame temporary natural wonder draws thousands of reality seekers
This is one of the famous Crystal Beach Ice caves. A natural phenomenon last seen thirty years ago. These handful of formations are drawing tens of thousands of visitors a day to the forlorn shores. Thursday there was a 15 km long traffic jam leading to the ice. What does it say about our soul sucked humanity that such a lame formation can draw extraordinary crowds? People are desperate for something real, unspun and free of charge.

Building Castles in the Sky
Who has not? Even the lowest slave about to be hanged for looking so good, has a dream. His dream and my dream and yours are all aligned. If your human you want a beautiful sustainable place to live where everybody knows each others name. I expect our current crop of trillionares to build such a place post haste.
My PTSD, I never found the right tree
The truth about advertising. You are a animal being. You can be manipulated as easy as pavlovas dog. You do not believe this, you are a fool. Right now say, I am a fool and I will no longer be moved by animal spirits.
Now you are free what will you do? As the biggest monkey in the world what tree will you climb? There are so many trees to choose from. Those closest just give you enough counts to pro create. All the best trees are covered with climbers and you will have to climb over them to get to the top. Many of those you push down will be eternally wounded and some will actually die. How far do you want to climb?

60 Minutes, bought sold and paid for?
The initial reaction of the fighter pilot community to their new aircraft was lukewarm. Between its massive dimensions and troubled early service life, the F-105 had garnered a number of uncomplimentary nicknames. In addition to the aforementioned "Thud", nicknames included the "Squat Bomber", "Lead Sled", and the "Hyper Hog" and/or "Ultra Hog".[38] The aircraft's offensive capabilities were sarcastically referred to as a "Triple Threat" — it could bomb you, strafe you, or fall on you.
The question is if 60 Minutes was doing infomercials, who would be paying the freight? The controversial Tobacco story was a straight business play. Lawsuit journalism at its best. The Benghazi story was to the benefit of the Republicans who have been beating this phony Watergate Zombie in attempts to give it life. Tonight history was witness to what could only be called a skillful puff piece on the turkey in the air and princess on the ground known as the Joint Strike Fighter.
Sixty minutes acknowledged there where problems in execution, but more or less justified the continued investment in the program. If this was the only evidence available I would also say there was no other choice. The F35 described is a revolutionary craft that make everything else in the air obsolete and as effective as a paper airplane against a blowtorch. Its very strange that I know more about the F35 shortcomings than 60 mins.
First the F35 was never meant to be an air superiority vehicle. Its primary task was as strike bomber, whose role is to sneak up on targets under the air superiority cover of the F22. When the F22 became to big an expense to not fail, the F35 suddenly became this magical Swiss army knife of aeronautical impossibilities.
All I know is that someone has launched a Lockheed Martin propaganda strike at the US treasury, and has the skill and influence to use the 60 minutes brand. Leaving many viewers shaking their heads at what has become of what used to be institutions.

Northern Europe's Secret Economic Weapon
Black is USA, Brown Norway, and Grey Mexico.
Its no secret at home, but you will never hear a hug a thug proclaimer come to the logical conclusion. Build a crime free society and its a positive economic snowball. Yes the opposite is true. Imagine the economic cost of defending Israel. Imagine the economic liberty of peace in the middle east. I am not saying peace at any cost, I am not saying peace in possible, just what a blessing peace would be.

Humanity Olympics Prospective
No picture cause its a hard read.
A tragic failure to lead. Opportunity costs in the
trillions. This is the legacy of big C conservative government in general, and
doubly true of Canada's current crop of idiot ideologues. Economics is an art
masquerading as a science. Even the
simple proven acts of Economic cause and effect have been repeatedly sacrificed
by this current band. For which a perfect metaphor exits, Stephen Harper
singing a Beatles song. Out of tune, out of touch, as soulless as a master of
the water board recording his surfing exploits on GoPro.
This governments Economic myopia is already legendary and
Canada will pay a huge price in the future. The present value of today's
ideologically driven incompetence is in the trillions. One example beyond
dispute was the cutting of the GST and replacing that revenue stream with
personal income tax burdens at the lowest level of graduation. This is
universally understood to be a stupid plan. It is a scheme that rewards people
who consume the most, while at the same time punishing those who have the
least. Economics is the math of human nature. Tax what you want humans to do
less, and be libertarian in areas where you want humans to exceed. Scientists know everything about human
motivation, desire and satisfaction. As
an applied science its called marketing. Essentially distilling human behavior
into manageable data sets, and manipulating inputs to change the outcome.
Imagine I have a remote control that you can not escape. I
can use this tool to make you do anything I want given the optimal control
parameters. Control measures are on a
scale from torture to scientific fact. So I can force you to do the
unimaginable. This has been pretty well standard operating procedure for most
of our current round of civilization. I
hate to pick on the Germans, because I believe their culture today represents
humanities highest aspirations. The depravity they suffered through in WW2 has
etched for at least three generations an understanding that not only do the
ends not justify the means, we gotta carefully consider the ends. Bottom line they are one of few societies
immunized from bullshit. With earth shattering forces of mis direction, comes
an equal and exceeding amount of human correction. Look at the bottom line,
humanity has moved so far. Slavery, Gay Bashing, and moral turpitude are all no
longer accepted in polite society as legitimate ideas.
The Game of Thrones is all about expressing the ideas I
espouse. Yes my friends who enjoy all the swordplay, the Game of Thrones at its
heart is a morality play. Everyone will
get different messages from this epic. Its like a Beatles song you can hear a
lot of what you want to hear. However in the end a line like all you need is
love can not be confused. We live on a planet as diverse as the Star Trek universe.
There are parts of the planet like Singapore already living
decades ahead, and most of the world stuck in medieval times with cell phones
employed to direct the dread.
Perrie Elliot Trudeau was a hero. He created for better or
worse modern Canada. I have traveled the world, lived for close to a decade in
Austria, have spent the equivalent of years in most geopoliticaly significant
Asian countries. Austria is a utopia, they barely have a pot to piss in. They
succeed by maximizing their human resources.
Counteractively they all have six weeks holiday with additional pay, 36
hour work week and everything that should be a human right free. Austria is but one example of countries with
no resources allowing their citizens and guest workers to fulfill their human
potential. What would such a country look like with resources? The curse of the
golden flower. The problem never is how to spend the money, what destroys society is who will spend it.
Alpha males take providences with hot hunting grounds to defend. When there is
no easy way to survive, civilizations thrive.
I refer now to
Riverworld. The Robert Silverberg classic that did a Fight Club effect on all
humanity. His point was that humans are the hardest mammals to herd, they
exhibit frightening fight or flight tenacities, but if called upon to meet an
extasential challenge they have the ability to organize.
Perrie Elliot
Trudeau despite his mastery of everything. He failed thanks to lying Brian's
ability to frame his big score. Love him as I do, I hate PET because he could
not communicate the NEP big score.
Canada a socialist paradise, the NEP, yes some harsh wags
would agree all the money went not to make a place the world went to fixed on,
but to Exxon. Not so in Norway. They grabbed with both hands the National
Energy Program. The Norwegians stole his ideas and made themselves the richest
people in the world. Do not be fooled
by what is rich. Bill Gates walks into
a bar with two people on the stools. This bar instantly becomes the spot with
the highest average income place on the planet. Conservative are often
portrayed as mean, statistically speaking unfortunately they are stuck on
average.
The world is changing fast. Yet humans remain steadfast.
There is a feeling in the Euro lands that the life was made for living and we
could hope for a sustainability score. Nothing wrong with this model. Obviously
slavery was profitable, but do we
really want to build a world on this excuse.

Clean gets Smarter
When you think about all the stupid things dirty power has done its such a shock this idea is not done. Where are the improvements since the 18th century? Small and feeble as the may be they have likely improved efficiency and reduced pollution. For Green Energy we are sill figuring out the basics.
Dear Paul and Dear Mick
You guys got me up to rebel.
Now your in your seventies
and the message I get
is that we are living
real well.
I say that is not so
and I wish
you could look
into your past
and compare and
say what you think
as well.

Beatles Night 50 years later
I half watched this spectacle. The crowd of insiders was quite a contrast to the screaming mob of yesteryear. Displayed continuously for the crowd were images of the magnetic fab four, and they were like an EMP pulse to the faint heartbeats of the stars that tried to entertain. Everyone who does Karaoke does a Beatles number. Mostly because they love the music, but also relatively simple to sing. Try a Springsteen song next time if you disagree. Well I have heard a thousand better renditions of most Beatles songs than our so called stars could muster. Dave Grohl did it right and Adam Levine was not bad. As for the rest even Joe Walsh looking immortal and Jeff Lynne looking like hairspray could not bring some fire, or good vocals to this event.
I was there in sixty four. Not not live, I was a six year old on a twelve year old couch experiencing history at 420p on a black and white TV, tuned to the CBC. I gotta say it was a slow fuse. It was not until 1967 it hit home. My bud Carl Dixon who later became a big part of Corey Hart made me listen to Sargent Peppers. I thought he was the only nine year old on drugs. But after that I was a Beatles addict.
When Ringo took the stage he sounded like Art Garfunkel. The magic of the Beatles was that they were amazingly earthchanging fucking good. As Paul McCartney said " if you had John alone it would have been an amazing band"

Life Transactions, keep them lite
Life transpires
so swimmingly so riven with current
its a place e where to 'be an island
is great but
not nearly good enough
some one always
wants to invade
and what's with that
live me alone you fucking brutes
but that's not the nature
of humans
we are like a wolf pack
of opposable thumbs
with a crow brain
pumped through
a lizard mother board
with a failed memory
Knowing what exists
is not panacea
nothing is certain
and experts
piss dust and ruin
if you can find one
that has not
hitched his post
to an intellectual
flatulent.
Over and over again
the same stories
are printed in the Newspaper
and now on the
electric medium
What has changed is the impact
and maybe that's why
newspapers will never
be the same again
People do not care
they are like medieval villages
raped and pillaged
by the forces
bad and good
all they know
about politics
is there are a lot
of babies
with no relationship
to the neighborhood.
Something closeto a love poem
we do not have some kind of facebook love
or any kind of electronic hook up
to which those with weak chemistry subscribe
I knew the second i saw your face
you were the one for me
lets just take that in context
I was not in a southern state bordello
I was not lookng at some fishbool
of attractive brides on a site
that as a prospective Republian
canditate you needed to proscripe
I was not like half of them gay
I was just me and you were
you and there was no external
force working upon us to proscribe
We fell in love in an instant
and it was real
we are now both 55 and
that is a certified warranty guarantee
real deal
How did that happen yesterday
and why is this unlikely today
Well at one time the world
just spun around. No one man
or party could halt it
to make
a tattoo
at instant fascinating
but in the end
cancer/
How to Ban GMO food from your Neighbourhood
Act locally to thwart those that are trying to steamroll you globally. I don't know if GMO foods are safe. Based upon past experience, why should they be any different than other safe for humans scientific breakthroughs that turned out to be anything but. In the case of GMO foods never forget you are what you eat. If that does not mean be six sigma careful with what is called food, nothing is important. All the details from Stranger in a Strange Land.

What the Fascist fear
That you will co operate. Listen to me now, and I will tell you later I have only said whats on my mind. Kafka spoke of this before 1939. Lock me up but stop these guys, in the whole universe of ideas its not much of a compromise.
We have the money to do this now
the lottery knows no numbers
no meaning to the prize'
it is just a statically anomaly
brining joy to some family tribe
Looking down deep
its a government solution
to government mission creep
We all love to dream
and I suggest its
just human nature
that the richest billionaire
is frustrated because he can
not be in a first somewhere
So all these bored people
without enough chlorine
in their pool
must decide
what is more pretty
living well served
or living in an organic
block of getting along/Imagine a scocity were you
did not have to fight
even if your house
was more better than
the one on the right
The problem is we all are little Caesar
and when we reach that height
we must destroy all hope
of any citizens
who would
have an alternative view
without challining
your might.
It seems and this
is a theme
we live over and over again
that men are stupid
they will not acknowledge
what they did right
but die on a cross of
self inflicted might.
Terrible Humans
Everybody has a flaw
It may be in their
face or body weight
these are things we can
define and understand
we do not fall in love
with imperfections
except for that lizard brain
source of deception
that makes us
all turtle
Thats why you
can see everyday
people so in love
that do not in any way
belong together
I can see the phycisla
contributions to this
kind of non normal clover
In the reality of men
there are only women
this is our fire
our reason to exist
what make us wake up
in the morning
and take that first piss
The world is built upon piss
and fire
and thats what is wrong
with making worldwide designs
built upon what
some motherfucker or other
saw as project of a thousand years

SONY gutted
SONY remains an iconic brand to me. If I am buying a TV it is going to be a SONY. I have had my reality enchanted by fantastic SONY products. A Buddakan Walkman I now really regret throwing away, just because cassete tapes where no longer shiny. An XBR CRT TV that played every format and used any voltage.
By far my favorite was a Stereo Betamax player. I bought it at Whitby Audio when Beta and VHS were fighting Samurai. I paid $1200 1984 dollars for my precious, in today's dollars over $5000. I was a pioneer that got arrows. Although at the pro level Betamax remained the sole professional analog choice until the advent of digital, for the consumer VHS silently slaughtered Betamax a few months after I brought my baby home.
The Stereo Betamax was state of the art both audio and video. I always had a reel to reel envy. On this machine you could record two hours of your own music with perfect replication. Specification wise Beta beat VHS like a rented mule. Sony was so arrogant about its technical superiority it failed to remember money talks. IMHO VHS bribed Hollywood paying exorbitant sums for content. If you ever wonder why a DVD or Blu ray costs so much, read the history of the Betamax VS VHS war.
Well the way things are going in five years TV could be all that remains of SONY. That despite the fact that in the last nine years the TV division has lost $7.5 Billion dollars. SONY still has a great business making optical sensors for cameras. If you buy another Japanese icon NIKON most likely it will have SONY CMOS sensor. The rest looks like trash. The advent of LCD TV made SONY's technical prowess meek. They had a chance to regain the lead with OELD technology, but got cold feet and now its Samsung and LG who have leading edge models for sale. SONY is pinning its TV comeback hopes on 4K TV. IMHO this dog will not hunt. The reason is the human eye just cant see the difference until screen size is in the hundred inch zone, and there are not a lot of consumers for TV's that cost more than a fully loaded Honda Civic.
SONY has suffered from the commditization of consumer electronics. With TV screens so large, people do not care about the small logo. The MP3 revolution has raised a generation of consumers who do not demand the best in Consumer Electronics, only good enough. I wish SONY well, I hope even when we just plug a device into our optical nerve, there still a SONY at the other end of the cable.
I will miss all the Japanese innovation. Everything mechanical or electronic we enjoy today for pennies on the dollar is a result of the blood sweat and tears of the Japanese. They were on the bottom working their way up and turned the world upside down for the better.

Signs Signs everywhere a sign
Canaries are no longer allowed in the coal mine, nothing to see here folks, look its Justin Bieber. This starfish disaster, combined with seal and salmon all fucked up should be ringing some alarms high up on the food chain. So far no link to Fukushima. Meanwhile the new climate change denier in charge of Australia is saying, Great Barrier Reef, how can you harm that? No matter which side of the argument your on, could we all not just agree it makes no sense to subsidize environmentally destructive activities. If they make market sense, let the market pay to play.

No Justice No System
Sports and propaganda are twin sisters, setting young males off in a snow coloured world of male enhancements.
Some half a million people die in traffic accidents, and an equal amount die from gunshots in the USA every year; Those killed from terrorism in the worst year since 2001 you can count on your fingers no need for toes.
Drink more beer less koolaid and you will be a safer citizen more likely to share a toke on the road
I have a blog and thats a great responsibility. I could say all kinds of misinforming things and fool the clever who wanted to hear the same things. But I opted for the truth, the truth as I understand it. Awesome I alone stand for the truth. Make me Judge Dredd and I will clean the shit out of societies plumbing I tell you that. Truth be told as much as I would like to have cinema ending for all our culpurets, the Justice System is the place our criminals should face. But as judge jury and exectionar I would exile the whole top layer of NHL management. They are creating a monster that will devour hockey.
Another nasty side effect of Wealth Concentration
So basically they just blow it. Secular Stagnation is another way of saying way to much money chasing way to little returns. Listen to Krugman people he knows from using his head not his gut.

Dead by choice Bankers
I am never going to understand suicide at least till the time I put a gun to my head.
I know people who were not insane who offed themselves. Mostly they were so full of pride they could not handle the slide. These were not people making six and seven a year. I can not imagine what kind of personal calamity would make them walk off the world this way. It makes me think of all the soldiers today who just lite the fuse because they can not handle war leaking, all over them. These are some very soft men who decided to be warriors. In Japan the people can not handle the slaughter of animals and the people who do this are of a special caste. Good war is fabulous and makes so much cinema, But really today is there any such thing?
Terrorism sells terrific but its just war by another name. If your life was so bad, and your people so sad, strapping on a bomb would not seem mad. We celebrate the suicide mission in cinema. The Japanese cherry blossoms died without dread.
There are situations worth dieing for. The sixyfour thousand Americans who died in Vietmann would ask for a recount. The thousands who have died in Iraq and Afghanistan would ask why? The answer to that question is blowing down Wall Street
