Tor for dummies
What is Tor?, a way to cruise the internet that so far leaves no tracks. How to do it I can not explain, but Gizmodo has a opinion and so does boing boing. My understanding is that TOR is not a good solution for downloading, in that case subscribing to a VPN is a better bet.
Nine other things you can do to make the NSA suspect you.
Cellulose Fiber Breakthrough!
According to Gizmag a company from OZ has solved the problems with celluslose fibers and will begin manufacturing these green alternative to plastic products. We live in the best of times and worst of times, and loving it.

Whats going on in Syria?
The evidence against the Assad regime seems a little cute. And just like the famous Cheech and Chong recording revealed by Colon Powell at the UN we have reports of a wiretap where Assad agents discuss the same issue. The last point to ponder is that a gas attack by the Assad regime brings the worst possible outcomes for that regime, and the best result for the rebels. Maybe our old friend Bandar Bush has a finger in the pie?
There are no good guys in this conflict. Assad is a puppet of Iran, aided by Hezbollah the rebels are Al Qaeda at heart and a proxy for the Saudi's. But I do have a possible but politically unpalatable solution. Create a government in a box.
1)There is a constitution based upon already agreed UN rights.
2)There is a software enterprise system that makes government 100% transparent and every dollar accounted for.
3) The UN runs the country for three years until an election.
4)The army is disbanded until an election is held.
5)I get the Nobel peace prize.

Fukushima!Fukushima! Fukushima!
At least the steam in not dangerous!
Update Sept the 13, Fukushima out of control? Update Dec 21 2013
It looks like it is becoming a total clusterfuck. Or maybe more accurately we are 2.5 years later seeing what a total clusterfuck has been created. You do not have to be Nostradamus to predict this is going to have a lethal impact on millions, and will not increase the value of west coast real estate.

Never waste a chance to make a disaster worse for the sake of a photo op.
The BP Gulf oil spill was bad, the clean up was worse. Again reinforcing the opinion, do not believe anything you see on the Network News, read in the paper or see in a commercial.

Map Visualizations
See all 40 at TwistedSifter. Yes I cherry picked a couple that reveal some basic failures in America. I wish they had one that showed countries that allow capital punishment as well. Basically some places in Africa, China, Iran and North Korea and America. Repeat at Huff Post
Ten people from the Middle East
Some of them will totally surprise you! Maybe your stereotype is being dictated?

Killing ourselves to live
Humans are not stupid by nature. Humans are stupid when it pays not to be smart. Thus we kill the bees with pesticides, and the lakes and oceans with fertilizer run off. If just 10% of voters would say something about either issue there would be change. So please e mail or better yet phone your elected official and say smarten up or I will vote that you don't get paid!
Who would have ever thought that roundup could be bad for the soil?

GMO food Debate with clear winner
How many times has science let us down in recent decades. Fukushima is proof positive that Nuclear Power is not safe. You cant say well if they had done this, and this and who could have expected that and so on. I fear Genetically Modified Foods are also dangerous. I am not opposed to research, but there should be decades of testing before making these seeds a mono-culture, like we have with corn in North America. Watch a 14 year old school a blowhard. H/T to Let Freedom Rain II

Guest Workers
Lets just call them economic slaves. It is a terrible moral position to maintain that paying people less than minimum wage with no benefits is somehow great for the economy. These people are tools of the one percent, useful idiots who are grateful for a glimpse of the first world.
A similar but worse story from America.

Edward Snowden Aug 9 2013
He is a fugitive in Russia. But this week the NSA which is the intelligence arm of the Military Intelligence Complex suffered a temporary defeat when the President of the United States had to admit, "communications errors and need for input"
I do not expect much, but thank Edward for telling us once again, the Emperor has no Clothes. Govern yourself accordingly.

Fukushima Needs Urgent Attention
I have no idea what the true threat from Fukushima is. However the situation is moving rapidly to crisis. The main reason for inaction may be that hundreds of Nuclear reactors of the same design are still in use world wide. The fundamental design error is storing the spent fuel rods above the reactor. So the plan seems to be to hope for the best and not raise the alarm, otherwise everyone within 500 miles of one of these reactors is going to be demanding it be corrected if not shut down. The bottom line is a huge catastrophe has been playing out for over two years and lack of response seems unseemly.
From what I have read at the very minimum 500 Km of Japanese Coastline and a minimum 1 Km inland are now uninhabitable. This zone includes Tokyo and Yokohama. That's the best case scenario. I have no special insight but feel the worst case would see Japan become a dead zone, but likely North America would not have serious damage, certainly not as serious as all the above ground nuclear tests.
And just to put the icing on the cake of how bleak the future is for Japan, today the debt reached a quadrillion Yen. ($10 trillion) In contrast the US debt is $16 trillion.

America is the new evil Empire
America, America America, there is no nation in modern civilization that could even be icing on the cake that America has baked. At this point I always have to ask the readers to read before going further David Brinkley. Google it you lousy kids, his generation of journalism is totally lost. IMHO what Bradley Manning, Julian Assad and Edward Snowdon are doing today, would have been lunch in the park for David Brinkley. If you missed my point America has been a transnational force for the free world. So much good has flowed, and even to this day, it far outstrips the evil. But at the end of the day no one wants to live in a gilded cage!
Ok so we live in a world were the markets are cooked by insider trading and Algo super speed nano cent profit centers. A world were the price of Aluminum is allegedly manufactured. Some people say there is nothing new, they are all bad. Really have you just given up your right as a free person because you are so apathetic you imagine your vote is worthless. Hey and if you did vote and it went the wrong way, could be true. BUT I ask anyone reading this, to ask their children, to ask their friends, to ask their co workers, are you fucking Zombies?
Stephen Harper do not get me started on all his shortcomings. Canadian Democracy crippled as it is by the first past the post system has served this country very well. IMHO Canadian governments of all types looked to the Swiss for inspiration. Lets let the people just get along, and we will do some big infrastructure project to make that better.
Stephen Harper and his band of hard right neo cons has moved Canada off it axis.
First job of the hard right is to prove government does not work. We know this to be totally false in areas of natural monopolies.
First economic birth from Harper was bringing in a structural deficit, which is neo con 101. Starve the baby in the bathwater, it does not matter if that baby could grow up to be Bill Gates, or Steve Jobs, we do not need those people getting ahead.
I could write a novel about how Stephen Harper is changing Canada. Little smarmy was and many huge power plays like the embarrassment of excessive endorsement of the Monarchy somehow relevant to modern Canada.
The most dangerous way he is moving is to give the USA Military Industrial Complex free reign in Canada. Like we are a third world country. No way no how American operate in Canada above the law. Get Mad, get Angry wake up Canada Zombies. We took in draft dogers at the height of the War in Vietnam, we can stand up to America and still trade.
